TD22 is currently drifting over the Southwest Gulf of Mexico and expected to strengthen to a Tropical Storm WILFRED by this afternoon. Long Range projection are calling for the storm to possible intensify to a hurricane by Sunday.The Willacy County Navigation District who administers and operates the port and community of Port Mansfield will be providing sand bags for residence of Port Mansfield beginning at 12:00 noon on Friday September 18, 2020. Bags can be picked up at the Harbor Offices on Laguna Drive and the sand pile is located behind the community church.Many homes and businesses were damaged during Hurricane HANNA and have not yet made repairs. It is highly recommended that special attention be given to making repairs or bracing damaged or weakened areas so that this tropical weather system doesn't further damage the structure or lead to catastrophic issues.
